This photo is from Japan's answer to American Roller Derby:

I think the correct pronunciation is "Lollogamu"

Actually, that's what I meant, rollerderby. I could kind of tell that's what you were doing becasue of the kneepads, and the rail. Looked like a rollerderby rink to me.

What is a rollerderby ??

it should be pronounced ro-ra-ge-mu (where the "-" denotes a stretching of the vowel)

Roller Derby is a show where two teams on skates or blades try to outscore each other on a banked track. One man from each team is a designated "jammer", or points scorer. The jammer gets one point for each opposing team player that he can pass (with help from his own teammates). The other team tries to knock the jammer down, or off the track.

The rules are minimal, and I have never seen a game of Roller Derby without injuries, fighting, and blood. It's quite a spectacle. Like many other modern Roller Derby players, I always tried to play "legit". That means I don't let anybody by me on purpose, and if I'm in a fight, it's for real.

I never really cared about the shows anyway, I just loved skating on the banked track. Once we did a TV Series where we had a "figure-8" shaped banked track, with a 14 foot high vertical wall on one end, and a 3-foot high jump in the middle. Now that was good racing!

The americanized version of RollerDerby that was on TV a few years back was n-a-s-t-y after the first season. They totally ruined the whole concept and turned it into a WWE style story-lined POS.

The real roller derby is that japanese stuff... I saw one episode and I was like "holy sh*t". They hit HARD and fast... them japanese, crazy about their game shows and weid sports... makes me wish I lived in Japan (sigh)
