rogaine helps to keep your hair from falling out. it doesn't help you grow more hair. when you come off of it, the hair that was retained by using rogaine will eventually fall out over time. it's only a temporary thing.

however, propecia is also another route for men. although very expensive (about $50 per month), it has proven to be very helpful in growing new hair. procecia isn't something for men who are already bald, it's for men who have thinning hair.

another "new" method nowadays is using the electrolysis treatment. i don't know about other states, but when I checked it out here in georgia, the treatment was $3500. you visit them every so often for a period of 6 months. it doesn't help you grow more hair in your empty hair follicle. it only thickens and strengthens the thinning hair that you still have, giving it a thicker look.

OMG

Rogain does help to regrow(less often) and keep hair.

It does work if your balding is the correct kind, typically if the bald spot is in the back portion of the head not a recceding hair line.

You must take it for 6 to 8 months before you really see results and you have to use it consistantly for the rest of your life or one day you'll wake up to find a pillow case made of hair and quite a breaze when your driving.

Propecia does work and is expensive.

Thanks for the info, but I've also known what you have stated. Basically, once Rogaine is stopped being used, hair loss will continue. Unfortunately, I will have to wait until I go much balder, and hopefully by then, science will have advanced and I'd get a hair transplant.

I suggest reading (maybe not purchasing their products) this web site http://www.hairlosstalk.com/ that was posted by someone earlier in this thread. The infor here is fantastic. You can use some routine over the counter products that will "help" prevent hairloss. T-gel is supposed to help! A highly effective dandruff shampoo that will help the scalp from flaking, itching and in turn inflamming which will help prevent the hair from falling out in the first place. I though it a great read. I'm in pharma marketing and I thought it to be very accurate and helpful.
