Some schools may be different. We had military classes twice a week - one was called leadership lab and mostly was the marching / drill part. The other day was classroom and was stuff like military history. PT was several times a week, also at 0530 (painful when you are a commuter). There was at least 1 FTX per semester, plus we did something called Jan-term where we went to a military post for a week during January. It was intended to be 6-day (20 hours / day) prep session for those going to Advanced Camp.

All ROTC cadets went to Advanced Camp which was 6-weeks during the summer between the junior and sr. years. That summer was also when a large portion of the class would go to airborne or air-assault either before or after Advanced Camp. There werent enough slots for everyone, but enough that the top half of the class would get to go to one. We had a few where it worked out that they went to both.

I would go the ROTC route, unless you have a desire to get the crap beat out of you every day for 4 years. Considering you're prior service Army, I think you'd be much better off in a more laid back environment, like going to a normal college. Again, unless of course you need the discipline of a military school. I did AF OTS after paying for my own degree. Not the most economic way to go, but in the end, everyone comes out with a butter bar.
