Rum Drinkers?
So it seems there are a lot fewer rum drinkers (not Cap'n coke so much as on the rocks) around. I am one of them and prefer my good rum on the rocks. So .. what do others like?
I have been a fan of Kirk and Sweeney for a long while. Last year, a liquor store was out of it and recommended I try Bumbu. I have to say it is probably the easiest drinking straight run I have ever had. Extremely good stuff!

The Jamaicans convinced or brainwashed me to believe that Appleton Estate is the best rum, so that is all I have at home. I do like it, but I haven't experimented much beyond that, it is dark rum.
Also popular down in Jamaica is Wray and Nephew overproofed rum. I think it is around 150 proof, tastes actually ok, but watch out, that stuff will knock you on your butt before you even know what is coming.

Most sinister float on my favorite tiki drinks. . .
My wife got a bottle of Santa Teresa 1796 Solera Rum. Really gorgeous stuff neat. Otherwise, Zaya is pretty good stuff as well, and a steal if/when Costco carries it.
For mixing, the Flor de Cana is really good for the cash, and their 7-year is that relative bargain you can sip by itself or mix (but if you can get the fancier stuff, do give it a try).
My favorite. Won my first bottle as the champion of a limbo contest on the beach in Montiego Bay during spring break 1990. I have an advantage at 5'6".

Ive always been a beer guy, IPA primarily. But over the past several years started drinking single malt scotch- speyside primarily, some highland and definitely no islay (heavily peated); then transitioned to bourbons of various ages and distilleries.
I’ve been wanting to move into some sipping rums.
I’m taking notes here so keep all the suggestions coming
