I do wish that people would keep straight the meanings of "sex" and "gender"; they're not synonyms. I suspect that someone was too scared to say "sex" one day, searched for a euphemism, hit upon "gender", and all the other people who were too scared to say "sex" followed suit.

What was being tested was Semenya's sex, to determine whether Semenya is male or female. Cater Semenya's sex was determined to be male; whether he has gender or not depends on the language one speaks.

Gender is a property of nouns in specific languages: masculine, feminine, or neuter; e.g., "hand" (mano) and "table" (mesa) are feminine nouns in Spanish.

If you read the article... they say they probably wont let "It" compete anymore because of health risks regarding the situation
