Default Running Shoes

So I recently bought a pair of Nike shox and don't know weather they are any good for running. They are really stiff and don't flex much and the "shox" in back are really square, making it a little uncomfortable for running. Overall I think the shoes are mighty comfortable and I am a fan of the nike+ipod thing I have, but don't consider them real running shoes.

As the topic title states, what do you think of them? And if anybody has a pair of running shoes they like, please share. I'm going to be running a half-marathon in August and want to be well prepared

i have shox for walking, casual outdoor activities, and lifting. If I want to run i wear my new balance's..id suggest going to a New balance store if you are going to be serious about this marathon, they should be able to hook you up.

new balance is better for running.
also, for any long distance running, you should really consider getting your alignment checked out at a local running store.

Thanks for the advice! I think I overpronate when running, definitely going to check out a running store.

I agree, you need to get your alignment checked at a running store. All shoes fit people differently. Case in point, I can not wear the most expensive Asics because of a high arch. Although a great shoe for weight, stability and cushion, it won't work for me.

To answer your question, Nike Shox offer little stability...more of a fashion shoe IMO.

I train in New Balance 992 (now 993) for my marathon/half marathon training. But as I said before, these shoes may not work for you. Your pronation/arch/foot width/ etc may vary significantly from mine.

Have an expert check your stride/pronation, and fit you with the right shoes that are best for you.

Good luck, and avoid injuries!!!

The 992/993 are great. I literally bought a pair for me and my sister and brother in law and in laws and wife and both parents. Great running shoe and great comfortable walking shoe too.

Asics Kayano 14 or 15.

Awesome running shoes for stability and cushion. Previously, I ran in Saucony. Both are great running shoes.

Nike and Adidas, Rebok is for style not a serious running shoes.

New Balance and Asics are far above the rest, IMO. The Nimbus 9 and then 10 (asics) were and are the most comfortable running shoe I've ever worn. Definitely take the time to get your stride analyzed, figure out if you are neutral, over pronate or under pronate, I wore the exact opposite of what I should until I went into a speciality store.
