Russia's primary goal would definitely be in the surrounding areas of course. Namely Georgia. But then again Russia did go to war with Afganistan not long ago. This is a very big deal I think, World War III isn't looking so farfetched now.

I'm not sure that the Russian people were "expecting" a seige in their theatre or in one of their schools either...the response of their military/special forces may be questionable although I am not qualified to judge that...my point was that if they did drop the ball is it much different than the American military/security/intelligence services allowing a second plane to hit the WTC or even any kind of plane to hit the Pentagon? BTW, I wasn't trying to state an argument...just presenting an opinion/perspective.

The attacks on the USS Cole and other American targets over seas have been going on for many years too!

Good. I hope the Russians do start striking out at terrorists, wherever they may be. People dieing due to mass confusion is a bonus to the terrorists, those guys seem to be ready to die anyway so killing them during the siege doesn't accomplish much.

Why would you boast about hostage situations anyway? Its not like these folks even want to sit down and talk about anything anyway. Diplomacy towards them falls on deaf ears.

More power to Mother Russia.

I feel for the Rooskies. They need to hit back hard. What I do not understand is that the US has not named the Chechens seperatists as terrorists and they have not fully jumped in behind Russia, which I think we should. Maybe it is some diplomatic payback for not getting Russias support in the UN on Iraq.

I have read that the Chinese are having some problems in the western most parts of China where there are some Muslims that don't want to be part of China. Not sure where this is but if China ever gets an attack like this and gets pissed off, you could have every major power in the world hunting down terrorist organizations.

I say screw the terrorists, BOMB THE FRENCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The U.S. has not considered Chechens to be terrorists because we're not yet involved with them. Chechens are the main conflicts with Russia, not the rest of the world. Moreover, the U.S. already has its hands full with the terrorists in the Middle East, so it's not about to take on another "task" when the current one is not going too well.

If China gets attacked by the terrorists, they will bomb everything they see. Those Chinese commies are crazy! They are not as diplomatic as the U.S.

As for the French, leave them alone! As Moses said: "Leave my people alone!" Or is it: "Let me people go!"?
