By the look of some of the posts it looks it looks like the S2K bashing has already begun. Oh well. I agree with the person who said we'll have to wait until we can put the two production cars together.

It seems that Honda didn't get their demographics study done quite right. I had heard before I got my car that the target for this car was a white male in his mid 50's making around $100K. I can't speak for any other area, but that isn't the case in Indiana. We have a few older drivers (I include myself in that category), but by far and away, the majority of S2000 drivers are in their 30's give or take a few years.

After riding with one of our local drivers at an autocross, yesterday, the young sounding RX8 wanabe drivers may have a surprise in store if they venture onto the autocross course.

PS....It's kinda hard to see anyone's hair with helmets on.

Ummm, let's wait and compare when the car actually arrives. It's just like people here think they can beat Vettes and LS1 Z28s. People get excited about a car and start to talk smack. It makes you feel better about yourself, not sure why, but I can't explain it any other way.

And oh yeah, if you go by supposed stats (250hp, 163lb-ft (could be higher), and 2700 lbs), seems the RX-8 has the upper hand in all. Now, will it be as ridged to get the car through the tight corners of an autocross or will the gears be close enough to get it out of turns in its powerband. My guesses, the gearing will be on, the car won't be as ridged (even as a "sedan"), and as usual, the winner will come down to the driver. Shocking...

Sorry. Where are people getting the 2700 lb??? Is that a new expected estimated rate? I read in the last Road and Track the car is 2970 lb. Just want to find out if they are planning on minimizing weight even more.
thanks,
blakers

That's what's been being thrown around lately, but I agree that it will probably be higher. I had read like 3100lbs or something like that a while ago but thought that was way too heavy. But I could see what R&T to be true. Like everything else, we're just guessing until Mazda publishes all the specs.
