is the S2Ki member demographic changing?
I am one of the young S2000 owners. I bought mine a few months after my 20th birthday. S2ki has changed since I joined and yes, the owner demographics are definately different than they were when the car was introduced.
That said I appreciate all the pioneering/leg work done by our older/former members and all the advice/mentorship/insight and in the case of members like Ckit - the patience and time they devote to keeping S2ki clean.
I still pay my $50/yr to be here and while I hate that this site makes someone a lot of money - the members here for the most part are good. I think we have a great community and as long as the seasoned members stick around a bit more.. we can keep it going!

The demographics on the site, particularly age, are changing. Like previous posters said, the price of used S2000s allows a lot of people to enter the market now.
Demographics don't really change my feelings toward anyone, but it's the structure and maturity, like previously stated, of some of the posts now that is annoying. "Yo, ill ride, slam it dawg. remindz me of my boys sick S... blah blah blah." It's painful to read... and I'm still only 26!
Overall though, this remains a great site.

y j00 betoches cryng?!

Sometimes I wish I could have found this place when I got my 1st s in '02. I still make the most of it with who is here now.
well, age and maturity are two different things. i think the maturity level is going down, but the influx of young members by itself isn't a bad thing.
i'm pretty young, 26 now... i have club members in my local group who are a lot younger than that even... and most of them are very cool.
also, if you find a really terrible post by one of the newer dumber members, you can put it in the fail thread i created and we can all have a good laugh

is s2ki getting younger or are we just getting older
I think many of the older users are used to typing complete words, complete sentences and taking at least a few minutes to do a search for something, either on the site or say, google.
I think many of the younger members write online like they text, its part of the culture of a generation brought up on cell phones and texting, vs writing, calling, or emailing. This makes it difficult to read, plus the normal issues with reading text, which don't have any non-verbals, tone, or context to work with.
I also notice the text generation has a lot more threads that are one line items that go back and forth, rather than a formal structure to the message/thread that addresses an issue. So a simple post, response, response, acknowledgment turns into 3 pages of posts.
On top of that, I think the general whoring in many threads just adds to the frustration of actually reading a topic, and adds to the impression of immaturity of those who do it (and to the entire general demographic of younger site participants).
I still get occasional PMs about some of my mods. If the answer wasn't in an old thread, then I reply. Otherwise, I provide a link to the thread (if I can find it). Doesn't seem like a big deal. If they took the time to do the research to find out that I have (or had) a particular mod, then at least I know that they're at least making an effort to do some legwork.
However, the amount of effort that I put into my response is dependent on their tone/spelling/wording/etc. If they write their question in 1337 speak, my response will likely be short and not very helpful to them. If they take the time to ask clear, concise questions, then I'll make an effort to provide the information that they request (assuming I have the information they're looking for).
