I'm in the IT world too. Raises here were maxed out at 3.2% last year, and 4.3% this year.

I'm staying because I like what I do and my schedule allows me to work on my own business after hours.
I could probably only make another $10-$15k jumping ship, and I might end up like my friend. He's also in IT and just moved to RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland). He now works 70+ hour weeks and has just canceled his planned vacation to the US because his project won't be finished in time for him to go.

exactly. There are pros and cons for every job. For instance, ER doctors make decent money, but they put in a ton of hours which averages out to making an average living. Making money without working hard is the only way to go, invest, put the money back into your business, invest again.
