someone asked the question the other day, but no answer.

how do you calculate a theft salvage title value?

Well i think if its salvage from theft recovery then its really the same as salvage if you wrecked the car. So price wise you could probably sell it for a little more but it all depends on the buyer.

i agree but im wondering is there a formula: ie: 60% of kkb private party?

no formula, depends on vehicle, but rule of thumb is 60-70% of retail

how much the does the insurance company sell it to you after they've junked it?

Depends on the car and the market.. typically 10-25% but there's no way of coming up with a number now. I just bought back my totaled S4 for 7.2% of what they paid me.

I've seen a lot of cars buy back price of 14% of the insurance pay out, you got real lucky with that 7.2%.

I've owned one salvaged vehicle in my life, and my experience was that even though the car was flawless, (theft recovery) and was never wrecked, the best I could have imagined getting for it was 50% of the KBB value. What it was salvaged for doesn't really affect the price, because in most idiot buyer's opinion, salvaged = salvaged.

Yes I was very lucky and the number definitely surprised me. I turned around and sold the salvage car for 250% of what I paid
