many asian media are reporting the possibility that SARS is actually a biological weapon. what's your take on this?

I doubt it. If so, it doesn't seem like a very good one - from what I understand, the fatality rate is only slightly higher than the flu.

The goal of these "weapons" don't necessarily have to mean death, right? i mean, incapacitation, fear, and subsequent breakdown of social order can be just as effective.

the region it seems to have appeared from first has a history of illness and sickness being transmitted from animals ... which means it might not be a human creation, but on the other hand the Chinese governments stone walling even after the sickness had spread a good deal outside the country is odd ...
