Yikes. One thing that helps though: compare them to the size of the hand/sleeve on the right side of the picture...from the guy holding them. Do NOT compare them to the leg of the guy in the background 
. I think a big part of the problem here is the perspective of the picture.
Still wouldn't want to see one in my sleeping bag though
