Scholarship help, out of state student with no opt
I am an out of state student attending Penn State University. I have been informed that my scholarship may be revoked due to lack of funding. I am freaking out because I come from a poor family consisting of a terminally ill mother and a father with a history of brain tumors, both parents are on disability and are far from eligable to co-sign for private loans to compliment my FAFSA and I have no one else to help me. I worked so hard to get into this school and I am a 3 year Army veteran trying to become and Army Officer pending my graduation. I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding scholarships, and other options to help my situation. Any amount no matter how small will help. I have battled unfortunate circumstances all my life and if my mother dies soon I may have to raise my 5 year old brother on my own so I am doing my best to get school and everything else knocked out so I can get a job to be financially stable to handle the situation properly. I hate to put my self out like such but I have no options. Thanks in advance for the help and God Bless.
being an army vet. don't you have the gi bill?
as for scholarship being revoked, where was the scholarship coming from? get a weekend part time busboy job for some good $$$... sell the s2000 if you're driving one.
mostly fafsa will adjust but not a lot. i believe this is an issue that you should bring up with your financial aid councellor at your school. they should be able to see what's available for your situation.
for example:
your school may have need based scholarships available for students such as yourself
your fin aid councellor may advise you to provide proof of your harship to submit with your fafsa papers so you can get more aid
your fin aid concellor may refer you to a website (that is not www.s2ki.com) that lists different scholarships that are available to students that are both need based and merit based scholarship
your fin aid concellor may be able to find federal unsubsidized loans you qualify for that you can pull out
your fin aid councellor may give you a list of banks that can give you a student loan (i personally have chase, i have the basic starter credit rating but was approved without a cosigner)
the list goes on
remember the money is there, you just have to look for it. it's not gonna be under any rocks, or anything like that but it's there. it'll be in the form of scholarship or loans.
also, taking out a loan doesn't always mean you have to have a cosigner. you can apply for the loan by yourself, if you get approved, your interest riate may be slightly higher.
best of luck army dude!

The Army doesn't pay crap, the GI Bill is only $306 per month and is often back paid because someone in the office Fed up the paperwork, its not a consistant OR reliable source.
