use a usb cable rather than a card reader to avoid this issue in the future, IMHO. Buy a card big enough that you don't need to swap them, if you can.

Sandisk and Lexar are the two that I buy. Sandisk cards are the fastest, but my bad card was with Sandisk so I swapped it for Lexar this time around. I always take the card out to use it. I don't like the idea of using the camera as a conduit and draining its battery during transfer. Plus, with a fast CF card and USB 2.0 I'm transferring 2gb of images in a couple minutes. I doubt a camera would be quite so fast as direct access.
