Default security clearance for jobs

- I'm applying for a job that requires security clearance...
- I had a couple felonies and misdameanors when I was a minor that has been SEALED (when I was 18)...
- I know my background is cool for "regular" background checks, but how about for security clearance (government)?

It depends on the clearance level. Secret, Top Secret, or above?

How old are you?

And WTF did you do?

You should be okay for secret, it's pretty easy to get that. TS is harder...I don't think you'll get that, or anything above it for that matter. They usually almost immediately issue a interim secret clearance unless there aren't any issues that come up on the first scan through. You're just gonna have to try.

Depends, are you going to disclose it to them? If they're going to do a TS check, they'll more than likely find out. Last time I did a TS update, they wanted info 7 years prior I think. Your best bet is to get in touch with DoD and talk to someone, explain the situation and see what they think. Don't try to hide your past, apply, and get busted. There probably won't be consequences (they'll threaten you with 'em though), but it's not worth it to get busted.

It's not really okay, when they tell you it's sealed, it's not really sealed Like I said, for regular secret you should be okay, for TS...good luck

SSBI goes back 10 years.

And they really do check that far back.
