Security Precautions at Home
^ yea between the motion sensors and a couple of dogs you have it at least 90% covered. with a security system on top of that you are set. but a gun at arms length always makes me feel better.

Not just any locks, make sure you have deadbolts. Normal locks can be breached in seconds. More than an alarm, have an alarm sign out front. Crooks will look to the easier pickings at a neighbor's house than dealing with an alarm system.

but in the case you do have to shoot someone, make sure you hit them dead in the chest. you have a lesser chance for entry/exit of the bullet that way and may not **** up your drywall. of course the blood stain in the carpet will be significant

To add, if you DO shoot someone, make certain they are dead. Dead men tell no tale.
Well... unless you live in Texas, where I'm pretty sure it's legal to kill someone for sneezing in the direction of you or your property

Forensics do tell tales, and if a subsequent investigation reveals an intent to kill when the threat had already been neutralized, you will find yourself in a world of (ass) hurt. In prison.

In addition to the above, a few other things. First is one that you hit on - neighbors. Although nosey neighbors can be a pain, they can also be very effective, especially if they are proactive, like yours. Another is changing up your routine. If you can, every so often, stay at home an extra hour in the AM or come home an extra hour earlier in the PM. Try not to do the same things at the same time. As for important papers, I keep all of mine at the bank, in an old-school safe deposit box. I've also scanned everything to PDF and keep in on a zip drive in a secure location in the house. Although I have several hunting rifles in the house, I'm not big on guns for self-defense but that's just me. We do have a dog, a big black lab that will bark loudly at strangers. Until you offer him food - then he's rolling on his back, wagging his tail.

Just call the cops. They'll be there in 4 or 5 minutes and in time to call the detectives to investigate your murders.
