come on back to reality with us. as I said earlier in this thread. its much cheaper on society to just kill the bastard in your house then to let him rob you and maybe a few others, possibly hurt someone and then end up in prison which we have to pay for.
its easier to just end it right there for everyone.
Look, I won't cry for any criminal who loses his life because he was stupid enough to break into someone else's house.

But I won't feel bad for someone who loses a dozen years of his life when the 1 bullet hole in the wall and two in the ground at point blank range don't match up with a "self defense" argument.

Shoot to stop the threat. If the bastard dies in the process, so be it.

After you shoot him you're supposed to cut your arm with a knife and then put the knife in his hand. No forensics necessary.

And I'm just kidding if any of you want to play ACLU crybaby.

Guns placed in strategic/hidden places helps if you have more than one..
If you're home that is.
It does no good if your house is set up like mine or many other peoples and someone kicks in your front door and your gun is in your safe in the bedroom.
Various places for example..gun in kitchen drawer/gun holstered under couch/gun holstered under your coffee table/gun in nightstand/gun in bathrooms... yada yada
It may sound like overkill but you never know where you may be when someone breaks in or what room they may be breaking into.

(This is all of course if you don't have kids or they are old enough to know btw)

Ninjas: even the black brothers would be afraid of them.

If you are serious about security:

you are not going to be able to effectively deter a robbery if they want in.

What kind of safe are talking about. if you can pick it up so can they. unless it is bolted to a solid floor or big enough to to not be lifted by several people don't bother. A lock box? why? Where?

Alarms and dogs are great but I would protect the things you cant replace, your lives.

1. Read and understand your State's protection laws and what you can and cannot do. I do not know if your state has anything resembling the castle doctrine but FL has a lengthy set of laws that are great but YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THEM FULLY.....this is critical for you as a citizen of your state to read and understand your laws regarding security and personal protection.....this is probably the first and most important step you should take.

2. Install a solid oak door with a deadbolt to your master bedroom, use this room as your safe room.

3. Have a gun for you and your SO and both of you should now how to use both of them...one should be a shotgun.

4. Have a spare key to the front door tied securely to a glow stick. pick a window you will use to throw it out of and learn how to accurately describe which side of the house that window is (NE corner, South side middle, etc)

if a home invasion happens and you are at home, lock yourself in that room and call the cops...yell over and over that you are armed and will shoot!!!...... make sure you do this while on the phone as well for a recorded record....

once you know the cops are on the way, pop the glow stick, throw it out the window you chose and inform the police where the key is (this will save your 10K dollar entry door to the house from being rammed by the police) Await their instruction.

DO NOT HOUSE HUNT!!! I have a sign in front of my house that reads "Nothing in this house is worth your life..." I also live by that same philosophy. As long as family is safe and with me, being protected, nothing they can take out of my house is worth my life either. If you can remove yourself from the equation and stay safe always take the safer route.

I can go on for pages but you get the point...there are forums and websites out there dedicated to this stuff....

if you are not at home your house is as protected as it can be....I think common sense would tell most people:

hide yo kids, hide yo wife and hide your husbands cause they is raping everybody out here!!!!!!

Seriously though..... a decent alarm, locked windows and doors, motion lights and a barking dog is about the best you can do when not a t home
