Thumbs up Seeking quick computer help.

I'm trying to completely remove or uninstall Internet Explorer 6 from my computer, but so far unsuccessful. I tried doing it via the "Add/Remove" function and Regedit, didn't work. I also sought help from microsoft.com but unsuccessful also. If you know how to completely remove IE6, please help. Thank you!

One more thing, what is EzulaPopWin? Sometimes when I shut the computer down, the EzulaPopWin window pops up and wouldn't let the comp shut down. Any idea? Thanks!

These are the steps to modify the registry and reinstall Windows: "To remove Internet Explorer 6 or Outlook Express 6 through the reinstallation of Windows, follow these steps."

I do NOT want to reinstall Windows. I just want to remove the IE6 completely. Thanks!

Thanks! But this is the first thing I tried, but mine didn't appear to be like the directions on there.

I was hoping someone would know a way to remove it without following those exact steps from microsoft.com. If not, don't worry about it. I'll find a way. Thanks!

You can't fully uninstall IE. All those and other FAQs do is tell you how to hide the user interfaces to it or revert to an earlier version.

some ad-ware/spyware will sometimes be impossible to remove. Try spybot or ad-adaware to see what it removes. Honestly, the easiest thing to do is re-format and re-install the OS. Your machine will run must faster and you can just copy your current data onto CD's and copy it back over once you've re-formatted.

Microsoft has publicly declared many times (going way back to the law suit with the Justice Department over the plight of Netscape due to the bundling of the IE in Windows) that IE is an integral part of Windows and to remove IE is equivalent to removing Windows. If you ever use Windows Explorer (the file directories browser) or the My Computer browser, you are in fact using IE, just with a different "skin".

As others have said, you can use a different default browser for your internet viewing, but you can not completely remove IE from your Windows system as far as I know.
