Seinfeld and Gates
Ok Ok Ok!
Let me explain this commercial to those that don't have a grasp of it. There are several meanings in this commercial.
1) we see Jerry Seinfeld roaming a mall (funny because if you know Jerry's history, part of his original schtick (sp?) when he was a comedian starting out was making fun of where he grew up on LI in Massapequa, which coincidently has a huge mall, that he made several jokes about it in his routine as a comic.
2) Jerry sees Bill Gates of all people at a discount shoe store of all places as mega-Billionaire....that is funny in and of itself.
3) The next part is just regular Seinfeld comedy with him helping Bill get fitted for shoes.
4) Bill buys the shoes.....the cashier asks if he has a membership discount which he does....going back to his college days!! Here Bill is making fun of himself....that is called self-depracating humor. It normalizes him in the eyes of the regular people, and not as some godlike billionaire. It says...I am just like you...only with billions.
5) as they leave the mall Jerry asks....is there anything coming out from Microsoft that will be world changing (people take the cake thing too literally!!! WTF?!?!) and Bill obliges Jerry and clues him in with his butt shake.
6) Now at the end if you get it, we know that Microsoft will be a leader a technology. Big things will be coming from them. It will be hip...cool. MS is trying to shake the "evil Microsoft" label that has been unfairly attached to it. This commercial is the first part of a series that will "reintroduce" Microsoft as "the new hip and cool" technological innovator...something it wants to be in the marketplace vs. Apple.

What are we talking about though? All I've seen so far is Bill Gates, cake, shoes, and Macs.
The picture on the 'credit card' is from Bill's mug shot when he was stopped for a traffic violation. LOL

You remember the Nissan commercial in the 90's that basically featured G.I Joe, Ken, and Barbie. Great commercial in the fact that you remembered it, but it did absolute nothing to help sell Nissan cars, so they cancelled them. I see the same thing here. I saw it and was like, WTF are they trying to tell me.
I forgot all about that commercial, gonna youtube dat ish right now
But I get what he's saying. Even tho it didn't help Nissan sell more cars, it kept Nissan on your mind, and that does lead to sells.
I saw this commercial tonight and thought it was great. I don't know why, it just struck me as funny. Of course, I also like the "Bill's last day at Microsoft" short that was floating around a while back too.

We all drive Honda's here, but how many of us remember a Honda commercial from 10 years ago.

Like I said, you see Bill Gate and you think of shoes and cake? I saw the commercial, and my girl was asking "is Bill Gate doing commercial for shoes?" I turned at her with a confused face and she said "nvm, it has something to do with Microsoft".
