Another invincible AWD SUV bites the dust. Too fast for the conditions. Trying to overtake other vehicles. Pure speculation but probably driving on worn all season OEM tires. Hope the driver of the semi was OK.
I had a genius in an old Ford Explorer following me in six inches of snow a few years ago on I80 westbound in central PA. Everyone was in the right lane doing 30 mph. I had a brand new set of Blizzaks on an AWD vehicle. I pulled into virgin snow in the left lane and proceeded to pass a line of cars at 35 - 40 mph and pulled back into the tracks in the right lane. The Explorer saw me and figured he was good to go. He executes a violent lane change and must have floored it. He was all over the place but he kept coming. I had opened up a gap with the traffic I had passed so I was in no danger and I got to watch the whole thing in the rear view mirror. When he reached the front of the line he was already struggling for control and he either intentionally or unintentionally executes another violent lane change to the right.......and then just kept on going right onto the shoulder where he impacted a snow bank, flipped, and rolled three times on the infield of an on/off ramp. Idiot. It's almost always an SUV.
