Thumbs down Shopping for the BEST Kick/Electric Scooters?

I seem to have this fascination with 2-wheel methods of transportation and was one of the suckers who bought one of the first Razors from Sharper Image when it was released for $139.95! Of course I had to get the top of the line model with the mini coil suspension!

Well fast forward like 7 years and looking for the ultimate "Porsche" of scooters.

I prefer a electric model that can also be used as a kick scooter. I was looking at the Xootr brand since it seems to be best made scooter. But they no longer offer a electric option?

How many times have you dropped off your car for work and then needed a ride somewhere? I like to keep a scooter in my trunk for short jaunts around town to run errands or just for fun sometimes.

I found this electric one which seems pretty nice for $1399

Or should I just stick with the original Xootr MG model for $219

What have you guys owned/used in the past? I'd like to hear some real world opinions on people who use this method of transportation.

thanks
rick

i had a gas one back in high school. They are better than the electric ones...and...well....you are much better off buying a (folding) bike or push scooter.

These high end kick scooters make REALLY GOOD transportation for 1-3 miles around town

I love having it in my trunk so at a moments notice I can go somewhere quickly....more handy than you think. Try one sometime and you'll see.

My girl and I use it at car shows plus to get around SF for shopping duties, fun way to see the city and easily portable. Each one weighs less than 10 lbs folded up and can be carried on public transportation too with no hassles.

I've got a Kick scooter used mostly for tooling aimlessly around the local neighborhoods and gathering strange looks from coworkers. Kids kept suggesting tricks, so I learned to track stand on it. I've also been known to tool around work on a scavenged scooter with 12" tires.
