Shopping for mattress?
I am shopping for mattress. I went to Ikea and looked a bit. Then when to sit-n-sleep.
And found out the range of prices is huge. I think I want something with spring (seems more comfortable and last longer). And that's pretty much it.
I wonder what brand is good/decent? And what about prices? I feel like (at least in places like sit-n-sleep), I need to sit down and negotiate about the prices. But what's the starting price point to negotiate? How low can I talk them down to?

I went to Rockaway Bedding and got myself a Simmons Beautyrest pillowtop. I got it king size with low profile box spring and frame. My total after negotiating came out to ~ $1700.
Steer clear of Ikea, their mattresses suck.
Typical mattress brand names :Sealy, Simmons, Tempur-pedic are the way to go.

I got the same mattress, but with the standard box, since I like having to jump up to get into bed. It's super comfortable, but needs flipping once a month.
There's a guy in the Prairie redliner forum that I bought my exhaust from, he owns a mattress store, he could give you some inside info on what's good or not. His name sadly escapes me at the moment, but if you post in there, you should find him.

The Sleep Number Beds are awesome.......
<------ Sells them. Sorry had to plug there.
As ricosuave said "price doesn't matter." Stay away from inexpensive foams. They don't last and most warranty's don't cover "normal" wear and tear. Shop at multiple store and don't let the sales person "sell" you something. They get commission and spiffs on certain models at certain times so they will try to sell you the one that pays best. Most places will try ANYTHING to not let you leave without a bed. You can get free delivery and free accessories pretty easily. Shop around and use them against each other like a car. Some places are willing to lose their asses to sell you something. Find one you like and see if costco or sam's has it, that might save you some money. If you are interested in a Sleep Number Bed I'd be happy to answer any questions.
