It's really cool to see initiatives like this, however small of a drop in the bucket it may be.

Roll your eyes whiteflash but its true, if someone doesn't do something for them then they GENERALLY wont do it themselves, seen it. Promise you that skatepark was funded by coalition forces, that building they skated at later was the queens palace back before the Russian Spetznaz Raided it, right next to Camp dubs/julien, no way they get near it without out permission from coalition considering its the training grounds for the Afghan National Army's Infantry Branch. Believe this program is being supported by CF.

First of all, maybe you missed the point of this thread, and thus the point of rolling my eyes. This video, and thread, is about the kids and giving them hope for a better future. Not to talk about the politics of the region, or who does what for who.

As far as being funded by forces...

http://us.skateistan.org/mission

Mission of Skateistan US:

1.To foster national and international communication and understanding among local and international cultures,

2.to build the confidence, leadership, teamwork, and other life skills of vulnerable target beneficiaries and undeserved youth worldwide, and

3.to provide safe recreational and educational facilities for such youth.
Purpose of Skateistan US:

Skateistan US is a US nonprofit corporation organized exclusively for charitable, literary, and educational purposes. The Skateistan US nonprofit is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Skateistan US currently furthers its purposes by making grants to organizations with missions similar to its own. Skateistan US currently supports operations in Afghanistan carried out by the Skateistan Afghan NGO by providing funding and technical assistance pursuant to a sponsorship agreement. Skateistan US provides oversight of expenditures of its grant funds in Afghanistan to ensure funds are properly used.
If I wanted to talk about the politics of this video, I would have posted it in the politics and current events...

Rather, I wanted to talk about people, helping people halfway across the globe. The point of this thread IS that we're helping these children who have been embedded in the middle of a civil/religious gang war their entire existence; which has turned into some international pseudo-war witch hunt. You're right, the countries in shamble; the children need inspirational help, even if that jestures as small as an charitable organization opening a skatepark, and teaching kids how to skate. Whatever we can do to show them there is a world outside of bloodshed.

Do you get why I rolled my eyes?

Yeah, annnnnd, I agree with the program and your point, shouldn't get soo offended. My point is that the guy aint lying, these people don't take responsibility for themselves, it's a little tiresome is all.

Fluky your canadian brothers are tired of this shit too, I worked with them extensively downrange. We sink so much help, money, and support into that country and they don't care to do their part. They just want to sit around, smoke hashish, and kill eachother. They ask for a school for their children and then don't do their part to protect it by simply notifying us, instead they let it get blown up along with their children.
