Default Should the Brazilian Marathon Runner be awarded a

He was tackled into the crowds while in the lead by some fool and he ended up finishing 3rd. Looks like he was injured and had to tough the last 2 or so miles out and he lost quite a bit of time. But I dunno, there is no way to predict if he would have won if he wasn't tackled.

no..it's one of those things that just sucks...but, he should get something to note that the race wasn't 100% fair..and i think the olympic committee are doing exactly that.

It's hard to say what would've happened. I think it's unfair either way for the top 3 finishers. Anything could've happened in that last leg of the race. Sucks that some idiot had to screw it up for everyone.

However, it was nice to see that the brazilian ended the race in a playful manner

how is it that there was no security there to stop that idiot the moment he stepped out on the road? All this talk about the tightest security ever and some jackass is able to run out on the course and tackle the guy who's winning the race?!

Am I the only one who doesn't get how this could happen?

I don't think he should be awarded a gold medal. His stride after the incident seemed to be unaffected and the amount of time the other two guys beat him by would have been insurmountable either way.

It looked like the Brazilian guy was struggling to keep the lead for a couple of miles before the incident, so I don't think it made that big a difference. He was bound to get passed up anyway.

It was just one of those things that sucks, but in the end doesn't really matter. But, I was glad to see him win bronze. What a trooper!

Yeah I agree, seeing the Brazilian get tackled by the some lunatic, then losing the opportunity for gold medal and getting bronze pissed me off. I heard that the Brazilian track federation appealed to the International Association of Athletics Federations and demanded for a duplicate gold medal, but they were rejected. He is going to be presented with a another medal from the Internation Olympic Committee for his "exceptional demonstration and fair play...".

Unfortunate, but just one of the things that make sports unpredictable and compelling to watch...

This same nut walked out onto Silverstone last year at the F1 British GP - So happens that Reubens won that race, another Brazilian...

This idiot is a menace to society and needs to be put away in an asylum...
