Here's my 'personal' system
My daughter got to watch her mermaid movie on it, but she's usually scared by the volume and prefers to watch upstairs.

This is now the oldest TV in the house. It's a 50" Samsung HLN507W that I bought back in 2003. It's 1080i but doesn't have HDMI connectors, just DVI, which I use for the DVD player.
The receiver is a Sony STR-DA3300ES.
Samsung DVD-HD931 dvd player
NAD C525BEE CD player
Music Hall MMF 2.1 turntable
Nakamichi CR-1A tape deck
Energy 5.1 speakers:
RC-70 fronts,
RC-LCR center,
RC-R rears,
S10.3 sub
The sound is fantastic. I like it loud with no distortion, and it rocks for movies. I just started watching Band of Brothers again yesterday, and the battle scenes were amazing.
I put it back in 2-channel mode for CD listening, and the RC-70s sound really good by themselves.
This is where I like to watch anything with a good soundtrack..you know, loud
For everyday viewing we have a Panasonic 42" 1080p plasma in the living room and a 37" Toshiba 1080p LCD in the bedroom.
The plasma is the best picture, but the DLP still looks just fine. It has around 2,000 hours on the bulb, so I haven't really given much thought to replacing it yet. I did see a nice 73" Mitsubishi DLP open-box at Best Buy that looked really good, but I resisted.

Earlier this year I upgraded my setup with a Toshiba 42" 1080P LCD, an Onkyo 7.1 receiver with HDMI switching and upconversion, Polk Audio 7.1 speakers, a PS3, and an HD Dish Network tuner. Also got new furniture, and of course, hid all wires. Here ya go:

And at night:

And at night:
This didn't seem worth starting a whole thread for, but when mounting my TV on the wall I was uncomfortable with screwing the plate into the metal studs. Because there is a bedroom on the other side of the wall, my first thought was to mount some sort of plate on the other side and simply bolt through the wall mount, wall, and then the solid strip of wood on the bedroom side of the wall. Instead I got a little creative and used and Ikea Lack Shelf.
For anyone familiar with Lack shelves, they have a metal mounting plate with two bars extending perpendicular to the wall. You mount the plate to the wall and slide the shelf over the bars towards the wall and voila, you have a hardware-less shelf.
I held the Lack mounting piece on the TV mount side to mark holes and make sure they lined up well for the TV and drilled through the wall. I then threw some huge bolts through the shelf bracket from the bedroom side, through the wall, then through the TV mount on the living room side and tightened some nuts on them.
It looks great and now the bedroom has a nice little shelf on the wall, held up by a TV. Just thought I'd share that idea in case it helps anyone in the future
