thanks for all the compliments on my setup.
i have to say that the projector has been the single greatest purchase for my HT.
i started 7 years ago with a 2nd gen 46" CRT RP HD monitor and was looking to upgrade to a larger plasma.
I decided on a PJ for a few reasons.
the first being size/weight. my 46" tv was a bear, i didnt want to deal with a 60" plate of glass.
Second, the WOW factor. when you walk in to a room with a 60" screen, it is nice, but when you sit in front of a 120" screen, even without the picture it is impressive. it is literally 4-60" screens in a 2x2 grid.
finally, Cost. i sold my old tv for $300 on craigslist in a day, went online and ordered my PJ and screen for $800 total. so for $500 out of pocket, i get a 120" 720p display that has HDMI to utilize my HD-DVD player and HD HTPC.

For those that are video purists. i agree, DLP is not as great on blacklevels as a standard display then combine that with a front projection setup, but when my wife is more excited about a HT upgrade than i am, and when the alternative is $6k (kuro) it is pretty much a no brainer.

if you were to spend $6k on a display, you should end up with a theater for about $15-20k total. pretty pricey in my book.

in the end, i believe a home theater should be a replica of a theater, smaller displays don't qualify in my book. But that is all in how you define HT. In the end, it is about enjoying movies and being enveloped in the story.

This was just taken with my iPhone. So its kinda blurry.
Anyways, its a Pioneer Elite. I dont know if you can tell. but its Built in to the wall. It is flush mounted.

And if you look in the top corners of the pic... you can see some of the speakers in the ceiling which are all over the house.

The cabinet to the left holds all The Denon control unit (XM and Siruis, Speaker control, Switcher) and the Sony Blu-Ray

Yeah, that's something to think about for people that haven't made the leap. Home theaters have tons of hidden costs. For the cost of my wiring, wall mounts, and shelving I'm in the ball park of a Kuro. In-wall installation or every possible wire, shelving, plus buying all those wires and jacks added almost $2k -- almost doubling the cost of the TV. With my soundbar, PS3, and HD Tivo I guess I'm well past the Kuro. Ouch... Not sure I ever thought that all the way through

If you do go in-wall Monoprice is your best friend in the world. Every wire that was one cable is now 5 pieces: component wire, component-side wall plate, fire resistant in-wall wire, TV-side wall plate, wire. If you bought that stuff at Worst Buy each HDMI cable could cost more than $500. At least at Monoprice it's closer to $90 for better quality wires.

Nothing fancy, just a 47" Vizeo mounted to a Crate and Barrel stand.

Kind of hard to make out.

That's the regular TV; I've got a spot set up for a 120" screen and projector in the basement, but that will be a couple years off still.

My new 50" Samsung LCD. 1080i. Who needs 1080p?? Was a pretty good deal, currently priced at $1499 (Canadian) but got it for $1199 and the dude threw in a free mount. Probably cheaper online but I'm satisfied since after 5 minutes of watching it, a black blob grew across the screen and then it started smelling like burning and smoking. Turns out it had a crack inside the screen so I had a new one in a couple more hours.
