For the Californians, don't forget this new can of worms that went into operation last Friday:

24400. (a) During darkness and inclement weather, a motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, shall be equipped with at least two lighted headlamps, with at least one on each side of the front of the vehicle, and, except as to vehicles registered prior to January 1, 1930, they shall be located directly above or in advance of the front axle of the vehicle. The headlamps and every light source in any headlamp unit shall be located at a height of not more than 54 inches nor less than 22 inches.

(b) As used in subdivision (a), "inclement weather" is a weather condition that is either of the following:

(1) A condition that prevents a driver of a motor vehicle from clearly discerning a person or another motor vehicle on the highway from a distance of 1,000 feet.

(2) A condition requiring the windshield wipers to be in continuous use due to rain, mist, snow, fog, or other precipitation or atmospheric moisture.

Running lights at dusk are ok,not sure how that would make you ghey?
Maybe riding with the "top down "is showing off !!!!
The only time I can think of using only my parking lights is at the drive-in, so as not to disturb other viewers.

At dusk ... turn them all the way on. Why not?

If you say you are doing it for safety, doesn't it make more sense to turn them all the way on?

If you like the way it looks, then good for you. Consider it a built in mod. Just don't say it is for safety or some other bs reason.

never said it was "ghey", I only said NC because when I went there on military duty (Cherry Point) with my reserve unit we noticed the cars driving around in the late afternoon with the parking lights on. We only noticed 'cause no one does that in Cali.

I always use high beams during daylight. Combined with the sound from my car, it helps cars to see me.

No no no. Parking lights are for while you're parked. Driving with parking lights on is silly and, IMO, annoying. If you're worried about being seen while you're moving, use your headlights. If you're stationary, use the parking lots. Very simple.

What he said.

I remember older Volvos running with fog lights by default, probably because the weather up northern Europe was so poor due to heavy fog or poor lighting. It doubled as parking lights (they do serve a purpose!).

But running lights during the day?

Its like wearing sleeping caps on your head.
