Thinking about this reminded me of my Aunt's neighbor...

He pulled his car into his garage, closed the door and left it running. Only weird part was, it was a Ferrari.

Personally, I wouldn't. I just couldn't. As for that happy couple, I'm seldom inclined to feel sympathy for strangers--it's just Darwinism running it's course. (-_-)

i don't know. i truly believe that if an individual has come to the logical conclusion that he/she can never attain happiness in life, then i think suicide is really a viable solution. of course people who commit suicide rarely make that decision logically, but the fact remains that many people endure their entire life being completely miserable. frankly, i rather opt for suicide than a lifetime of endless misery, but that's just me. as for hurting the people who love you when you commit suicide, sometimes it's selfish for those people to feel hurt in the first place. instead, if those people really love you, then they should understand and feel comforted in the fact that you have alleviated yourself from your unbearable personal pain. remember, we did not choose to be born, and life is not for everyone.
Took the words right out of my mouth.

Wow! your opinion is quite different from mine. Life is for everyone. Hapiness is a state of mind. Those who go around miserable all their lives may not be trying to adapt to the circumstances. Sure, the circumstances may be shitty but giving up is too easy.

I admit that once someone has given up it is pretty hard to change their minds though.
yes, i agree that happiness is a state of mind. and sure, if everyone lowers their personal standards in life to the level where they can feel happy then, eveyone can ideally be happy. regardless, eveyone has their own limitations in life. eveyone also has their own personal dreams, goals, and values. in order for an individual to be truly and completely happy, he/she needs to achieve those dreams, goals, and values. but if your limitations prevents you from achieving those dreams, goals, and values, then you will never attain true happiness. sure, one can adapt, revise, and compromise their dreams, goals, and values to something attainable within their personal limitations, but again, would you honestly trully be happy knowing you had to make a compromise??

but anyway, not to argue with you in anyway, but i personally don't view suicide as "giving up." i see it more as a "personal decision." if an individual has convinced him/herself that he/she is best off not living anymore, regardless of how distorted his/her point of view may be, then it is his/her personal choice, and he/she should not be judged for making that decision, just like we should not be judged for any of the personal decisions we make in our lives.

But how can someone possibly know how they will feel / what will happen to them, in the rest of their natural life.

No one can accuratly predict the future. Shit everything could change next year, next month, next week. Of course if your dead, you don't get a 2nd chance to find out.
