As of about 7:30 this evening my lovely wife and I have been married twenty-five years.

All I can say is that twenty-five years ago I never imagined that life today would be what life today is.

congrats! did you get her a stallion for the anniversary?

 

We did get a new gelding almost three weeks ago; does that count?

 

congrats to both of you. that's quite an accomplishment.

a little romance... a little sleight of hand... and there ya go... 25 years later and your wife still giggles when you pull a quarter from her ear.

Naomi-Sarah: yes. Evidently I have to spring for the membership fee here to be able to post pictures, and I'll get to that soon.

Jon: I finally took some pictures of him, and will take them to get developed later today or tomorrow; the rest of the answer is the same as above.

 

When I got married I was in my next-to-last semester as an undergraduate, working at my father's real estate investment company. In twenty-five years I did not expect:

to have three adult children.

to own a cat.

to enjoy horseback riding (horseriding for you Europeans).

to own three Arabian horses.

to be a professional magician.

to own a rabbit.

to have had careers in warhead design, mortgage securities analysis, and risk management.

to have lived in Northwest New Jersey for a year.

to have had emergency gall bladder surgery, or to have had both ACLs replaced with cadaver grafts.

to have not talked to my father in over twenty years.

to be hoping to move to Northern California.

to have had season tickets to USC football for several years.

to own a sports car made by Honda, especially one that is much more fun to drive than the car I owned at the time (a Porsche 911S).

and so on.
