well, there's jail and then there's prison.

I think prison is for people with terms of a year or longer. this pamphlet is, per my understanding, handed out in prisons.

Who's yo daddy? Lordy! I'm going to do everything I can to stay out of prison. I don't even like the idea of being a jocker. None of it sounds good to me. Being free and never having been in prison. Now that's a reason to wake up happy!!!!!!!!

yea... scary to think though.. if anyone of us was framed, or was at the wrong place at the wrong time, involuntary manslaughter maybe.. we could end up in there..

My first year in law school our criminal law professor took us through the men's max facility in Raleigh, NC on the theory that if we were going to possibly send people to prison or keep them out, we should get a first hand look at the place.

It was hell on earth. The worst place I've ever been. The guards said there is no controlling the HIV and hepatitis infections. The hospital ward was standing room only with more than one man sitting on a bunk. Reading that just confirms what a nightmare it must be.

Oddly enough, death row is by far the "best place" to be. It was quieter, less crowded (single cells) and much cleaner. Guards said those prisoners were better behaved due to ongoing appeals, etc.

God save anyone here from ever having to face hard prison time.

Edit: Can't speak to the whole "Choose your daddy wisely" thing, but yes, the guards and prisoners we spoke to did confirm that sexual assualt is common--hence the out of control infection rates.

Anyone else get the feeling that article itself was written by some horny, ass-lovin' inmate?

I couldn't read the whole thing.. I just quickly scrolled, and read disturbing tidbits along the way, then accordingly deleted my history about 100 times
