The boat is so friggin' huge, XV, that what you think are small windows are full-size cabin windows for the lower decks. It's very hard to note the scale.

You'd need a veritable s**tload of oars to row this puppy! THe 6 diesel motors generate over 100 Megawatts of power to keep the ship going; I'm sure no small amount of this is directed to the propeller pods!

Actually, now that I look again, the holes you're talking about are the ones on deck 1, and those are small. It's the ones above that that are cabin windows.

Speaking of Titanic...as well as the QE2...and even your beauteous Adventures of the Sea ship...... Sure looks like they still don't have the "bodies-to-lifeboats" ratio figured out yet ...

Or am I just deceived?

They do, I think/hope, on the Adventures of the Sea. The lifeboats are primarily for passengers. There's also a whole bunch of stacked inflatable life rafts that you can see if you look forward (towards the bow) at the same level as the lifeboats. It was my understanding that this provided sufficient capacity for everyone.

As far as the QM2, it's a little hard to tell, but I think they might've been shy a few boats in the picture. Maybe they were using them and were out when I took the picture; or maybe they're still not fully equipped yet (she's still brand new).

So was the Titanic!

By the by... Best line from the recent Titanic movie:

Jonathan Hyde (Ismay): But this ship can't sink!
Victor Garber (Andrews): She is made of iron, sir. I assure you, she can. And she will. It is a mathematical certainty.
