If I were driving one of these things I'd be more worried about cars smashing into me, especially lifted SUVs/trucks.

Those impacts look pretty bad. isn't the car supposed to crumple to absorb the impact? Cuz to me it looks like the driver is taking all the abuse.

The Smart has a reinforced cage around the driver, and that shouldn't crumple. It just has a small crumple zone.

I thought it looks pretty safe. The passenger cabin looked like it protected the occupants pretty well. I'd like to see the results of the off-set impact tests.

I see these around a lot. Pretty cool looking (actually saw one with rims one time, believe it or not). It did look like the main cabin stayed well intact.
