Is Snap-On really THAT good?

Snap-on is fantastic. These are the tools we use in the world of aviation in the Navy. I have seen these tools beaten to death while working on F-14 Tomcats, and F/A-18 Superhornets.

The only problem I have come across with them is that the 'chrome plating' has flaked off on some spanner wrenches.

Don't Snap-On tools have a life-time warranty too?

Snap-On is worth it if you make your (sizeable) living using the tools. Otherwise there are much cheaper options that are more than adequate for the general public.

If you are ready to spend serious money on a box, make sure you look at Lista boxes. It might be cheaper, and has a slightly different take on a super high end box.

Yes, the snap-on tools have a lifetime warranty but so do many others including craftsman. The problem with snap-on is the average person has a hard time claiming the warranty. If you work at a shop that has a regular scheduled snap-on truck, they are the great. My father is a heavy-machinery mechanic carrying around well into the 6 figures worth of tools at all times on his truck. The majority are snap-on and mac.
But... For all those expensive tools, most of his tool boxes are craftsman professional. They last very hard use.

Exactly what I was going to say!!!

$800 up here in Canada, an awesome unit. heavy gauge metal, very durable ball-bearing sliders on the drawers, upright tool hangers for certain oddly shaped tools, slide-out work surface, hydraulic piston-assisted top cover, overall an awesome unit.

I can't remember the brand, but I don't think you can beat the quality for even 2-4 times the price they're selling it for.
so is that like 650 american?

I think that the American $$ is less than that of Canada's $$. So it would be more than the $800 MikeyCB posted but Im not sure.

^^ Actually, USD currency from as long as I can remember is worth more than CAD. Recently though, it's coming to almost even now. Quick google search as of now $1.00 USD = $1.01050011 CAD.

Whether the Snap-On is worth it depends on the income your tools generate.
