Default So apparently, HIDs are illegal....

So I get pulled over today driving the S2000 in the Inwood section of Manhattan and the officer approaches me and immediately says,

"You know, HIDs are illegal right?"

And I say, "Officer, they came with the car."

"License, registration and insurance."

I comply and hand him my information.

"High Intensity D..D..D..."

"Discharge"

"Yeah, High Intensity Discharge lights are illegal."

"Officer, they came stock on this particular vehicle"

"Just because they came with the car, does not make them LEGAL! I'm a police officer and I know the law.""

"Pop your hood!"

So he's under there a good 2 minutes scrutinizing my very stock engine bay and says finally,

"You can go, but make sure you change your lights, alright?"

"Thank you"

So weird, but I found it amusing.

If you got the officers name or badge # you may want to report him to keep it from happening again or to someone else

He sounded and looked like he was new. Another officer was with him observing what he was doing but never said a word.
