So is the CD going the way of the 8-track?
Back in 2000 I was really disappointed that the S only had a CD player and no cassette player. Ha. Now I am disappointed that it only has a CD player again. However this time its because my wonderfully versatile iPOD that wakes me up in the morning, goes jogging with me, rides along in my other car and downloads my newest music has no direct line to the radio. This isn't a rant. I am just noticing the impact of the continuous march of new technology. Its funny how things changed in 8 years.
the sound of compressed music bugs me so i for one will probably stick with cd's a bit longer. all my downloaded music is in flac but it still just doesnt sound the same. And as long as apple = drm im not jumping in the ipod boat anytime soon, my cowon A3 works just fine thank you.
I have the iPod accessory that allows it to play over FM radio - that way it goes in all my cars and no need for hard wiring.
I left all my CDs with my ex, if I ever have space to store them again I will take them back. I like the sound much better.
Only thing that's better about the iPod is I can instantly hear whatever I want.

Although, on the flip side...a vinyl record will sound better than a CD on high end audio home theatre equipment, and look where vinyl is today.

That's only your opinion. You can't state that as fact. I'm a die-hard audiophile, I even have a turntable but there are people on both sides of the fence on that.
