Default SoCal housing rant

Over the weekend I checked out some new places being built in Irvine, and I must say the new houses they're builting are both expensive and very $hitty designed. $350k for a freakin 1100sq ft. townhome that requires you to walk 3 stories to your bedroom? WTF?

The closest thing to reasonable is what my buddy just bought all the way east to Riverside: $180k for a 2500sq ft. single home, 2 stories, 4bd 3ba, big yard. But that's like 75 miles WITH TRAFFIC..

Housing in SoCal is ridiculous!

Housing here in So Cal is really expensive.

I can't imagine ever moving from my small apartment in West Hollywood.

It's only a single, but it's got a kitchenette, fireplace and skylight. It's also got parking for my car and motorcycle...$280 per month!

My landlord only raises the rent $20 every 10 years!

I'm very lucky.

Not to mention Irvine smells like crap half the time. Fun Fact: Irvine is a stupid, stupid city.

You can always buy a house in Fresno. Check Msn.com for descriptions...

I left Fresno. The prices are right, goes along with the smaze. Went back to a reunion last year and everyone there complained of asthma. Very sad, because it was a wonderful place to grow up. There are great deals in Bellville, Illinois, however, the commute to Irvine is a little long.

Hey Rich, where were you looking? How many bedrooms? $350K sounds like a rip off for what you were describing, even for Irvine standards. Where else have you look in Orange County?

You'll find some homes here that simply have a bad design (don't ask me why), but there are some good ones out there that are currently being built. Most of the good ones have been taken already

One thing is for sure. Your home will appreciate nicely. My uncle just loves his house that he rarely, rarely ever uses.
