i am just guessing (too lazy to read or search) that the biggest problem with SS is how long people are living.... seems like they should have adjusted it by now......(mandatory no payments until you are 70, or a huge drop in $ if you try to get it early).

same with medicare.... everyone is entitled to popping 800 namebrand pills a day to make them live longer (great quality of life i am sure) so we have the longer life of SS payments plus the extra demand on Medicare $....

 

We already have universal health care - got no money but get sick? You'll still get treated. Right now its just the people with some money and no ins. that get royally screwed - the system takes all their money for treatment.

 

Fat asses with all the healthcare requirements that being a fatass causes , diabetes-heart issues- lung issues = Medicare being fooked. The country is running negative numbers right now and somehow cash for healthcare is to be found?

Hoard your pennies kids cause it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Novel concept take of yourself, prepare your own finances and arrange for your own medical care (insurance - or better yet boutique / concierge medical coverage)cause the government don't give a squirt of shlt if you fall thru the cracks.

We are becoming a class system here in the states with the haves and the have nots.
Ask yourself where do you want to be when you enter a hospital?

 

1) Stop raping the SS trust fund.
2) Allow anyone to opt out of SS right now -- you stop making payments, and forfeit all the money the government is currently promising to pay you.
3) Either increase taxes massively or stop spending trillions of dollars on war and maintenance of our foreign empire in order to pay the money promised to those who currently are and will be dependent on SS.

We need to ween people off 'entitlements', and allow people to take care of themselves.. clearly it looks like everyone in this thread realizes they aren't entitled to shit.. especially my ****ing money.

 

That just won't work.

Everybody will opt out, there will be no money left in the funds, and when 85% of the population spends every penny and gets stuck, the government will have to find money somewhere to keep them off the streets or there will be super old homeless people everywhere.

People may not like "Big Brother" but they sure love having "Mommy and Daddy" around when they hit hard times.

 

There is no money in the funds now.. it's all been stolen to pay for other things. There will not be enough money in the funds in the future. It will only get worse and worse as more and more people are owed money. We absolutely must begin to phase people out because the system is unsustainable. So we could either stop promising money to people in the future but still require them to fund SS, or we could let them opt out all together and find the money to pay off current obligations elsewhere. The latter is more reasonable, as the former would be unacceptable to the public.
