No such thing as girls baseball. Or guys softball.

Same game, cept the girls play a little different:

Bigger Ball, which isnt really "soft," (speaking from experience here.)

Pitching is done under hand.

Other then that they are the same.

There's no mound in softball, bases are closer, mound is closer, bats are different sizes as are gloves.

Main thing is that softballs are bigger so for normal humans they are difficult to hit as far as baseballs because of their mass, and easier to hit and catch because they are a larger target. So the game was developed for easier play than baseball. Some competitive softballers are pretty good. When you see fast pitch softball, the balls are flying. Recently a fast pitch softball pictcher struck out a big league pitcher.

FWIW, lots of guys play softball in informal leagues.

Softball is either fast pitch or slow pitch and depending on which you're playing, the rules vary. Sometimes there are 10 players on the field. The 10th is called the shortfielder and plays somewhere behind the shortstop. No leading off in softball. You can put in a pinch runner and then put the player you substituted for back in. Lots of little differences in the rules.

I spent one miserable season playing high school fast pitch. The game was fun, but the girls on the team were just a nightmare. Softball players are a unique breed, to put it nicely.
