Default solicited to on the phone,

i got a call from a blocked # today. i say hello and a lady says "due to a recent online purchase you have been selected to recieve hundreds in savings and a free $10 in gas , you have 5 days to see if you like it and your credit card will only be charged $4.95, after the 5 days it will be $20 a month, call us if you would like to cancell, the information packet will be in the mail in a few days. i told the woman on the phone i wanted to get off the list and im not interested. I asked where they got my info and she said she did not know. i asked to be redirected to a supervisor to cancell this payment she said "thank you for your time" and hung up on me. I looked at both my atm and credit card statments and i have not seen the charge come up yet, but theres no way im going to pay this even if it is 5 bucks. if i have not authorized a charge will a credit card company process their claim? I wanna deal with the credit card company rather then the marketing company because i doubt if i call them to cancell the $20 payment they will. im sure this BS has happened to others just wondering if anyone has advice.

just contest it.

no, you're not liable if you didn't authorize it. what they are doing is essentially fraud.

This is a bs phishing scheme - you haven't been charged anything yet, but when you call to get out of this (or they call you back), they will ask for your account number, pin, some "verification" questions, like your mom's maiden name, etc. Basically, they just have you hand over all the info they need to use your card, prompted by this bs call you got in the first place.

You can call your CC company and warn them that you got this call, but that's all I'd do for now. You're insured against CC fraud, but it hepls to be proactive.
