No wood around to indicate termites. These aren't wood shavings/dust. I did think about the egg scenario before. It seems more plausable. The incident did not repeat, so they were likely eggs.. from what? I don't know.

Very strange! I'd call an exterminator if I were you.

Speaking of spring and time of the year for little critters and pests...the exterminator found a nest of carpenter ants in the rafters of my garage. That shite was straight out of Indiana Jones...hundreds of ants fell from the ceiling all over him.

Don't think it would be eggs. What insect or animal would lay their eggs out in the middle of an open floor? Usually they find some kind of hole or dark place to lay eggs for security.

That would freak me out. Mice don't leave big piles, just lots of individual little turds spread around. If its from an insect, its one big freaking insect.

Do what me and my roomates did in college. Light a bug bomb in the bathroom and go out drinking for the night.

Rodents don't leave a pile of turds like that. Mice will crap out one or two little pellets here and there, but not a pile, unless he chewed through a container of Metamucil or something.

I agree it looks like eggs of some sort and would leave the house also.
