Get the Samsung LED, 8000 series. Could be had for 3K. Just bought mine, and thought the picture was better than the Sony.

just read a good review in home theater on the samsung plasma. PN50B860

also a 58" model available for $3200 list.

same magazine has the XBR9 review right after it, but it is not LED backlit.

they are both on the homepage hometheatermag.com

how's the picture?
I am thinking about upgrading.

I think I can get a 55 for $2700 online. Maybe $2500 after Thanksgiving.

The picture is epic. It is 90% awesome straight from factory, but when you tweak the settings (which you can get from CNET) the picture quality is simply jaw dropping. HD FIOS looks incredible, but Blu-Ray is razor sharp, and the colors are out of this world.

I had absolutely no budget when buying a TV, and this is a good deal better than the competition. The only other TV that is as good/better is the new Samsung 8500.
