Speaker question

Here is the difference. A 2 way speaker has a driver (6&1/2 is stock on the s2k) and a tweeter mounted on top of it. A 3 way speaker has the same thing with an added speaker coupled next to the tweeter. Does this make sense?

A two way speaker breaks the sound up into two ranges, high frequencies going to a tweeter and low frequencies going to a woofer. A three way speaker breaks the sound up into three ranges, with high frequencies going to a tweeter, mid range frequencies going to a mid-range driver, and low frequencies going to a woofer. The more you break up the frequency spectrum typically gets you better sound because you can use drivers designed for those ranges of frequencies. Therefore, as a general rule of thumb, all other things being equal, a three way speaker will sound better than a two way speaker because there are less compromises.

Now that you have the definition, you might want to know that 2 way or 3 way don't make a difference by being 2 way or 3 way.
You just pick the one that sounds the best to you.

This may be obvious, but no one has mentioned this yet.
2way - has 2 speakers
3way - has 3 speakers.
Maybe this was so obvious that no one said anything. However; I thought it just needed to be on record.
