If you go to court and the cop doesn't show up then you are golden.
otherwise say:
my siuation is simple that i know i went over the speed limit and the officer caught me with this gun. I am trying to go to court to explain to the judge that i know i was wrong, and well after having driven for over 12 years i havent had one speeding ticket as of now. And i know i made a mistake and understand i need to pay a fine but please if i could be given the option to go to traffic school and maybe have my fine reduced a bit
leave out the rest about stress and grandmother. Dress well, ie. button down and khaki's. Be respectful and you have a chance at driving school and maybe fine reduction because of your never having a ticket in 12 years.

Looks like you should get driving school, if he got you 55 in a 40 then youre golden and should get the option for school. Call the court you have been assigned and request it. They care about your money and thats all, they could give a shit about anything else, kangaroo courts man....

We got a very successful defense attorney who does a radio bit here locally, and his advice is when asked "Do you know what speed you were going?" your only response should be "The speed limit, officer." And repeat that as many times as you are asked until the cop knows he wont get anything else.
