spend or save
The more I buy, the less I get out of it. My wife and I do quite well but live well under what some people with the same income do.
Except for one reasonable car payment and mortgage I allow myself ZERO debt. It stresses me out. I want an SC kit that is probably $5k, but I wont pull the trigger until I have it in hand and if I have to wait, so be it.
But I have gotten to the point where I have just about everything I want. I don't want a bigger tv, my digital reciever works just fine. I have a toy car. I used to always gets the newest thing out there but now I dont care.
If you asked me what I get the most out of in life, its time off and travel. Retirement is ALL about time off and travel. So now I get the most out of stashing it away. I am literally putting away 30% percent of my annual GROSS into retirement with a goal of a sweet retirement starting at age 55. It amazes me of how much more I could have month to month if I did not do this, but I would just piss it away on crap, but I can't wait for the day when the only thing I have to accomplish is take a long walk with my dog, the rest is up to me.
It helps that I am not lusting after cars like I used to because that is the easiest way to pee away cash. I dont even own a cell phone because I dont want to have some thing in my pocket ringing all the time when I am walking around, leave me a message at home and I will get it eventually. And I don't want to pay $30 a month or whatever.
Now all this will work out just peachy if I don't get hit by a bus at age 54 or something. But thats the risk.

spending is really fun. i love it. wearing 30 dollar burberry boxers, throwing credit cards at bartenders, making it rain on strippers, shots of louie, sports gambling, sports cars, world travelling, vegas and NY trips, actin like a dbag, etc. if you are under 30 u better be doing that stuff, cuz its a free fall in terms of fun, once you get hitched and have kids.

Well, I don't want the monthly payment, but the major reason is I just hate em. Every time I am walking around in the middle of a conversation with someone they hold up a finger and say "Hold on a second." And reach into their pocket for a vibrating phone. Or they have some totally annoying ringtone. Or they are snapping cell phone pics of stupid sh*t. Or they are talking really loud while in line at Chipotle with one finger in their ear.
