Default Spider Help!!! What type of spider did I find in my yard in NJ

SO I have this pile of rocks I am getting rid of and I am throwing them into the back of the rental van and I see these huge (1 and a half inch) all black spiders, the kind with the big bulb on the back...sort of what a black widow looks like. Now I know the black widows have the red hourglass on their stomach area, so I don't know if they have that or not, but is this an infestation of black widows, or is it some other type??? They are all black and I am in New Jersey...

Help!!!

Thanks,
Sean

LOL, it's hard to say unless you can get a pic. Black widows can be anywhere. If someone brings them in unknowingly they can take a ride on anything.

Well, here is a catalog of spiders with pics. Maybe you can find it there....

*edit* I just realized those are European spiders.

I went to that page and it sort of looks like the Callilepis, but not shiny, a more dull look I think...

Every black widow I have ever seen has been very small. Much smaller than one would expect from such an infamous spider. About the size of a dime.
