Well, I wouldn't be too surprised if we were near the end. I mean just look around you, there's not much more berth for this world to get more f'ed up than it is now.

Nearly every generation said the same thing. Think about WWII way worse than anything we got now.

Actually violent crime rates have dropped dramatially

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/gvc.htm#guns

It's just a perception the man wants you to believe.

Truth is all notable crime has decrease so dramatically you have to go back to pre 69 years to see such low rates. Oh yeah and there is nearly 10 times more guns on the streets one for every american and we have 1/2 the violence then in 1994. Note to get crime rates lower then the mid 60's you have to go back to 1910!

I'll have to side with excel on this one. People were much bigger asses in the 12th century. Society as a whole is far safer than that period.

That's not what i was saying, but considering public hangings, lack of nearly any freedoms especially that of religion (knight of tempor), hangings, massacures, and torture were routine at the time, it makes the point even more so. Man doesn't kill nearly as much as he did during the dark ages/ early renesance.

And for the record, a very small number of priests have been accused of inapproriate behavior with boys.
A small number? One is too many -- but consider that 90 have been named in Boston alone. Another 32 in the outskirts of Mass, 50 in Phoenix, 37 in Portaland -- yeah just a "few."

Catholic priests like to have sex with little boys. I wonder if someone predicted that in the 12th century.
Compared against the whole, its a small percentage. If you don't believe and/or dislike religion or Catholics thats your problem, but don't condemn the entire religion or insult all of us Catholics but posting your absolutes.

The real problem wasn't so much the despicable actions of a few, but the official reactions of the hierarchy. Boston's Cardinal Law oversaw the moving of pedophiles from parish to parish. Bad enough, but he then gets promoted to Rome, and is honored to say one of the John Paul's memorial masses.

Springfield's (MA) bishop is named as an alleged abuser and immediately resigns and runs off to a mental health facility in Maryland where he cannot be reached for comment or extradited.

A convicted pedophile, level three sex offender, (most likely to offend again) priest is the prime suspect in a 1972 murder of an altar boy just outside Springfield. After his conviction for chold molestation, he remains on the diocesan payroll and is not defrocked for many years. And still retains a pension from the Church.
