I started this to allow discussion for wether you should have SS or Tube. Have fun. I am not much interested. I like tube myself. Don't know why just like tube. Tube for me.

SS is cheaper, but Tube will always give your more authenticity. That's what they used back in the days anyway. I think if cost were not an issue, just about any purist would go for tube over SS. Although some SS's are very very good and can come close to be a good imitation tube.

Tube will give you a much richer sound, but SS rarely fail. I say tube.

tube if you have $$ to tube roll
a good SS can be just as good, and expensive.
