He was probably hiding in the mud to keep Predator from finding him.

God, you're such an Idiot. (in napoleon dynamite speech inflection pattern)

Didn't he tell them he played video games on his cell phone to waste the time away? The news is saying how he used his Boy Scout training to survive the last 4 days on his own. What about using his Boy Scout training to not get his butt lost in the first place.

I found the story. It is quite common for lost people to hide from rescuers, for fear of being in trouble or something. People's minds get messed up in the wild, from fear, starvation, dehydration, and exposure. The fact this kid was found at all, much less alive, is a small miracle.

excel, it is clear you have little experience in a rugged wilderness area like where this kid was lost. Within a few miles, a kid could be over a ridge, down in a ravine, and essentially invisible to all. Not every community has search planes and helicopters armed with the latest and best technology, ready to roll at the drop of a hat. If you'd like to fund such projects, you'd likely find all the takers you can handle. Why don't you get on that ASAP

Plus, even if they knew he was *only* 5 miles away, that's still a search area of 80 square miles.
