yeah i think a bunch of spikes set up in the yard should be good, plus a camera to catch all the action.

Setting booby traps - even on private property - is illegal.

Just leave a few rocks big enough to hit the bottom of the car in the front yard. Hopefully they'll take out the sump on one of the rocks.

probably 6 weeks-ish. he's not in a neighborhood, he's just a house off the road. as far as i know no one else has been touched.

Definately need more info. I take it you think it is some kid or are we talking a real piece of work adult. I would approach my revenge plot differently given what the answer to that is.

And if there is a history we definately need the details.

I don't like to mess with people, and treat everone the way I would want to be treated. But when someone starts a battle with you for no reason, I believe you finish it quickly and in a way that says "Don't ever even think of messing with me again."
stop screwing the guy's daughter
the guy, if it's who i think it is, is about 26 years old, with a wife and at least one kid. he's your typical dumbass redneck, has a couple of high-powered cars (one of the cars that i think is doing the damage is a dark green 5.0 mustang with about 600 hp)

the guy is actually the brother of a friend of mine, but i don't know if they're close, and i'm not really close to my friend, we probably haven't talked in a couple years. periodically, i will drive by their house and see them in the yard. i waved at first, since i know who they are (we've actually never met that i can recall), but they never waved back, so i stopped.

the only thing i can think of is maybe the guy thinks i'm trying to drive loudly by his house; he's not very far from a stop sign, and my car is mildly loud upon acceleration (FIPK + fujitsubo.) also, i usually rev-match when downshifting (all the time, not just at his house.) i don't know if he thinks that's my yard and is trying to teach me some kind of lesson or what. i don't know, i can't make my car any louder or quieter, it is what it is.

If you dig, call the hotline. Hitting a line could cost you big bucks.

best thing to do is get some cameras and record it ... or digging holes would certainly works.

Correct. Unless you want to be sued and or go to jail I would go a different route.

I like the idea of video and the police. Lowering yourself to their level may be fun but you're likely to be the one that goes to jail.

I believe they sell cameras with motion detectors that aren't too expensive. I'd invest in one of those.

True, but given the circumstances, ask for a jury trial. I don't think they would side with a prosecuter for tank ditching a redneck in a Mustang on your front lawn. Tell them you were putting in a pool. That way if the car goes in and they can't get out, you can fill it with water. Its a win-win.
